After a 35 month long renovation with costs soaring up to £220 million ($349 million), London’s famed, The Savoy hotel is finally set to open its doors once again for the public on this October 10th. The renovation carried out by its new management company, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts comprised of redesigning the entire structure from the iconic entrance and the American Bar to Savoy Grill and the 268 guestrooms and suites. Besides equipping the rooms with M80 compact entertainment systems like we had informed earlier, there a number of other features that are in store for the guests. Let’s begin with the hotel’s design. The new refurbished hotel design boasts of Edwardian and Art Deco styles created under the direction of renowned designer Pierre Yves Rochon. Over 1000 craftsmen and artisans worked tirelessly on the interiors of this plush hotel.
The hotels guest rooms have increased with the addition of thirty-eight new River Suites and guestrooms which overlook the river Thames. There are also nine Personality Suites which pay tribute to some of the artists and famous figures who stayed at this hotel including Maria Callas, Charlie Chaplin, Marlene Dietrich and Frank Sinatra. These suites are furnished and decorated with artwork, literature, photographs and artifacts that evoke the time and spirit of the stars.
But it is the 325-sq.-m Royal Suite that is sure to generate the most interest. Featuring two bedrooms, a study, sitting room, dining room, master bathroom, dressing room (with a specially ventilated shoe closet) and a master bedroom with a bespoke Savoir bed, this Royal Suite is definitely fit for a king. Guests will surely enjoy some fine wine and dine experience at the hotels, River Restaurant, American Bar as well as the Savoy Grill which will return under the operation of Gordon Ramsay Holdings. Joining these well-established names will be the Beaufort Bar, a glamorous Art Deco bar built on the hotel’s original cabaret stage and Savoy Tea, a bijou teashop.
The Savoy will also introduce world's first Green Butler who will not only perform the functions of a butler but also have an in-depth knowledge of 'all things green' around London. Designed to have a lesser impact on the environment by equipping environmental technologies and efficiencies wherever possible, the Savoy hotel sets an example to the upcoming hospitality endeavors.
A must-visit place, the renovated Savoy hotel is sure to attract guests from across the world.
