Chloe Punto Milano Pants

Chole's Punto Milano Pants unexpectedly infuse the casualness of sweatpants with trousers. While that description sounds pretty unflattering, creative designer Hannah MacGibbon, actually translates this look quite well into a wearable ensemble. Granted, it seems wearable for someone who is tall and pretty slim, but nonetheless, it is wearable.

The Punto Milano Pants ($1495) are made from a cashmere/camel/alpaca mix and features a ribbed high waist, harem style legs with ribbed banded cuffs. They look best with its matching jacket and then paired with a pale colored blouse, preferably something silky, as shown above. I love the contrast between a dressy material like silk against a casually styled suit. The whole outfit has a definite 70's chic vibe to it that celebrates a woman's seductiveness without putting her body on full display.

Deep Blue Sea is touted to be one of the most expensive hats ever sold at auction

Imagine strutting around with the deep blue sea resting on top your head! Oh no, I’m not talking about Arial the Mermaid, but arguable the most expensive hat to be brought to auction called as the "Deep Blue Sea". Created by Australian milliner Ann Maree Willett and opal miners Vicki and Peter Drackett, the hat features opals that have been specially mined Australia's Lightning Ridge. The hat is crafted in hand-blocked Australian felt and comes set with bright feathers and 26 opal that carry a total weight of around 1,447 carats. The carvings on the opal is done by Daniela L'Abbate and Christine Roussel and the stones come embedded in been sterling silver and 18-karat gold by Gerd Gerold Schulz. It is touted to fetch between $150,000 and $200,000. The record for the most expensive hat in the world is currently held by the "hat of love" created by designer Louis Mariette, which is crafted in woven platinum and is studded with diamonds. This is valued at $2.7 million.

Madonna's Material Girl Launch

Busily promoting her new clothing offerings, Madonna was spotted out at Macy's Herald Square in New York City on Wednesday (September 22).
Joined by daughter Lourdes Leon and brand face Taylor Momsen, the stylish trio attended the 'Material Girl' collection launch at the popular local shopping stop.
As for the appearance, Madge and Lourdes graciously greeted shoppers who dished out $75 or more on their line upon buyers' exit from the department store.
The fashionable endeavors come as Madonna and her girl have been busy working on a new movie titled "W.E." in London and NYC.

The Fashion Statement: Top Ten Trends for Spring 2011




New York fashion week at Lincoln Center is a wrap and we've tallied up the results. In a word? '70s. Want more words? Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver.

Fashion weeks in London, Paris and Milan have yet to dictate the top ten trends of Spring of next year, but here's an early take. 

SHORTS: Everyone, and we mean everyone, showed shorts in their spring collections. Whether short and roomy at Badgley Mischka or long and blouse-y at Thakoon or almost Capri-length at Ralph Lauren, shorts are going to be the get for spring.

STUDIO 54: There were so much '70s and early '80s references this week, I could hear Charliecommercials in my head. Halston, famed in that era, showed drape-y colorful maxi dresses and caftans that could have been lifted straight out of the archives. Marc Jacobs showed brightly colored pantsuits and full-length halter dresses. 

PRINT MADNESS: Spring is traditionally all about florals. Jason Wu's breezy blouses had cut-out posies. DNKY had tiny flower prints on youthful dresses. Michael Angel went the painterly route with a collection of beautiful multi-colored frocks.

FEMININE VERSUS MASCULINE: Jill Stuart typified the feminine push/masculine pull with high-water tuxedos followed by flouncy, frilly dresses accessorized with masculine belts. The juxtaposition was stunning.

CANDY COLORS: Michael Kors trotted out fuchsia and green. Rebecca Taylor favored orange. Cynthia Rowley went for yellow. Candy colors ruled the day.



AMERICANA: Tommy Hilfiger did not disappoint with preppy white, red and navy blue dresses, totes and plaids. Michael Kors was all about easy separates-the ultimate American way of dressing.

WILD WEST: Ralph Lauren went fringe with the treatment on leather coats, leather pants and handbags as well as concha belts, cowboy boots and denim. Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. combined the indigo blues with with African prints, florals and plaids.

EARTH MAMA: Suedes and leathers, two materials you associate with hippie chic, showed up in labels like Edun and Mackage.

LASER CUTS: Laser cut pieces have become so intricate, they look like lace. Marchesa showed a delicate laser cut cocktail dress that had somehow had the strength to be three dimensional. The cuts on a Suno dress was so extensive, you wondered how it held up at all. 

and last but not least...

HIGH-WAISTED, WIDE-LEG PANTS: Derek Lam's denim jeans with a skinny belt. Gray and white trousers by Badgley Mischka. Marc Jacobs' pink silk versions. Here's to the end of low-waisted skinny jeans!

Uptown Astor Large Suede Tote, Handbag of the Day

All my favorites seem to be suede lately! This Michael Michael Kors creation is called the Uptown Astor Large Suede Tote and it's a softer version of leather and studs. Light brown suede pairs naturally with goldtone studs, darker leather double top handles, and a detachable leather-and-chain shoulder strap. Large rings connect via designer-stamped rivets and the botton corners have protective seams and accents for long-wearing usefulness. The inside is fully lined in designer-patterned twill andfeatures a plethora of pockets (5 in total) and the top closes via magnetic press-stud fastener. $450

Old glamour is back

La Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week de la Miami designerii si-au prezentat colectiile de costume de plaja pentru primavara lui 2010. Fraza ce a fost cel mai des auzita a fost "Old glamour is back in a big way", asa cum scrie si in Miami Herald. Decat o vorbarie despre stilul abordat din care sa nu reiasa clar ce si cum, mai bine ne uitam la imaginile de mai jos.

Aston Martin la Nurburgring


Pentru cei care trec prin Nurburgring, Germania, si cauta un suvenir ce le va aduce aminte de vestita pista, pot face o plimbare prin mall-ul Grand Ring Boulevard. De cateva zile, aici s-a deschis magazinul Aston Martin, oferind concurenta rivalului Ferrari. Pe o suprafata de 2.400m2, Aston Martin Store Nurburgring pune la dispozitia cumparatorilor o gama larga de haine si accesorii, cat si o colectie de tablouri, fotografii.

Curve de marca


Initial, nu am dorit sa ma exprim asa - "curve de marca" -, dar nu am gasit o expresie mai potrivita. Poate va dati seama si la cine ma refer sau la ce categorie de femei.

Ma refer la femei pentru ca barbatii care s-ar regasi in situatia expusa mai jos ar forma o categorie cu o alta denumire si ma voi referi la ei separat.

Ce este o curva de marca? In nici un caz nu sunt curvele de lux, ci femeile care sunt ahtiate dupa etalarea brandurilor pe care le poarta. Cele care trebuie sa arate ca au posibilitatea sa-si cumpere diverse lucruri "de marca". Si nu ar fi un lucru rau daca ar tine marca intr-un loc anume, retras, ascuns, discret... Dar ele isi achizitioneaza obiecte, haine, incaltari ce sunt branduite pe fiecare mm patrat.

Si le vezi peste tot... la televizor, in ziare si reviste, pe strada, nu mai zic de mall-uri - locul de promenada al "ingustului". Din toate categoriile sociale, cu diferite pretentii (de doamna, de starleta, de om politic, de fashion designer etc.).

Aceste curve din Bucuresti, Iasi, Cluj, Timisoara, Bacau, Craiova, Ploiesti, Constanta si din mai toate orasele mari de la noi, din tarisoara asta de imbogatiti peste noapte si de curve prin nastere, nu fac altceva decat sa scarbeasca prin snobismul lor crunt.

Si, culmea, in revistele "apreciate" de moda se promoveaza si astfel de tinute. Probabil ca, in spate, exista vreun barter al patroanei, prin care sa-si mai ia si ea o toala gratis de pe la vreun dealer de marca cu reputatie. Dar, in prostia sa, nu are cum sa-si aleaga ceva cu stil... ca asa a citit ea pe timpul cand mulgea vaca, ca o "curva de marca" de la oras trebuie sa-si arate "vuitonul" si in pasarica, sau pana la pasarica, macar in gura si in fund.

Pantofi cu marca pe post de piele, curele cu catarama cat casa, reprezentand doua litere - GF(Gheorghe Frantu - daca ar stii nea Gheorghe ca a ajuns vedeta nici ca s-ar mai duce la coasa!), costume patate de marci peste marci, posete la fel, tampoane si plasturi marcati... toate nimicurile sunt acum de marca si trebuie sa le cumperi din locul cel mai scump, sa te vada toata lumea, sa stie toti prietenii si nu numai. Sa te duci la Milano sa-ti faci cumparaturile si sa te plangi ca ai mers cu un avion de rahat, ca prostul ala nu si-a permis un avion particular mai pe masura marcii tale de curva, si ca sa-ti treaca supararea mai cumperi si din toate magazinele din tara toate rahaturile pe care nu le porti, ci te duci a doua zi sa le innapoiezi pe motiv ca nu-ti vin bine.

Degeaba zic toti ca acel discret trebuie sa existe si sa domine, dar nu are cine sa auda. Cum se intampla si cu unghiile pictate - pentru ce trebuie sa-ti pui floricele pe unghii? Pe fetita mea as intelege-o - are un an si jumatate, dar pe doamnele astea de pe la noi eu nu le inteleg. Poate au dat in boala copiilor, poate au nevoie de o relansare in ridicol si nu stiu cum sa o faca mai bine? Ei bine, reusesc cu brio!

Imi este mila de branduri, imi este mila de unii oameni care muncesc sa promoveze niste branduri care merita promovate, pentru ca toata munca lor se duce pe apa sambetei in momentul in care un brand de acest tip cade pe mana unei "curve de marca".

“Confidence”, linia de genti semnata Paris Hilton


Pe langa stirile bine-cunoscute in care se regaseste Paris Hilton sau filmuletele cu teme sexuale, Paris este si creatoarea unei linii de genti. Ea a lansat la “The Copenhagen International Fashion Fair” colectia de genti pentru plaja, pe care a numit-o “Confidence”, dar care are cateva minusuri ce tin de stil si design. Parca, ne asteptam la ceva mai mult de la ea, datorita imaginii si statului sau, dar ca si prin alte proiecte, a reusit sa aduca o urma de dezamagire. Oricum, pentru cei care sunt fani Paris Hilton, aceasta colectie va fi bine-venita si chiar se vor mandrii cu un accesoriu la brat, semnat de Paris Hilton.

Propunerea Givenchy - Paris Fashion Week


Toate fetele si femeile se dau, sau cel putin s-au dat, in vant dupa rochiile de mireasa, chiar daca aveau sau nu nevoie de una, sau, pur si simplu, insoteau o viitoare mireasa. In timpul show-ului Haute Couture de la Paris Fashion Week, rochiile de mireasa au facut furori, asa cum era si de asteptat. Cele doua creatii Givenchy, din poza de mai sus, fac parte din colectia toamna-iarna 2009/2010 semnata de Ricardo Ticci si au reliefat cel mai bine ce inseamna rochia de mireasa mult visata.

Amosu lanseaza camasa de 40.000$

De obicei, ma imbrac casual, purtand jeansi si o camasa. Desi acea camasa aduce un minim de eleganta fata de denimul degajat, nici nu se compara cu ultima linie de camasi lansata de Amosu. Realizate din cel mai fin bumbac din lume, fiecare camasa vine cu nasturi din argint, iar pentru o tinuta mai opulenta, se poate da comanda de o camasa cu nasturi din aur, platina sau marcati cu diamante.
Preturile variaza de la 650$ la 40.000$, camasile completand costumul de lux al lui Alexander Amosu, desemnat ca fiind cel mai scump costum din lume. Cei ce doresc o camasa semnata Amosu, o pot achizitiona de la Apsley Store, 13 Pall Mall, Londra.

Criza segmentului luxury-fashion

Dupa cate creatii s-au vazut la Paris Fashion Week, si, mai ales, dupa vizualizarea tinutelor haute couture, se pare ca ne apropiem de sfarsitul unei ere. Zic acest lucru, pentru ca in perioada de criza actuala, sunt mult prea putine femei care isi permit cu adevarat un nivel atat de inalt. 

Printre designerii care se confrunta cu aceasta problema se regaseste si Christian Lacroix, care si-a prezentat colectia cu toate ca se confrunta cu mari probleme financiare si are nevoie imediata de un cumparator/investitor pentru a supravietui.

Lacroix nu este singurul designer, cu aceeasi problema confruntandu-se multi altii. In ultimii ani, intreaga industrie a luxului a cunoscut o cadere, dar niciunul nu credea ca vor ajunge sa-si inchida afacerile. Si aceste inchideri au o dubla fata, pentru ca se preconizeaza ca preturile creatiilor de pana acum sa creasca, din moment ce acele case de moda nu vor mai exista, iar aici ma refer strict pe segment de luxury fashion. 

Pentru toate celelalte nu mai spun nimic, super-ofertele vor vorbi de la sine.

Porsche Design Sport Fall/Winter 2009

Colaborarea intre Adidas si Porsche Design a intrat in al saselea sezon, aducand pe piata colectia toamna-iarna 2009. Colectia Porsche Design Sport Fall/Winter 2009 contine mai multe categorii, toate fiind dedicate sportului, asa cum reiese si din numele sau (“Water I Snow”, “Running I Fitness”, “Driving”, “Golf” si“Tennis”).

Prin noile creatii s-a dorit realizarea unei legaturi unice intre sport si lux, acestea fiind realizate din materiale care ofera confort, practicabilitate si dau o nota clara de modernism.

Noile creatii ale lui Georges Chakra

Georges Chakra, la Paris Fashion Week

Printre designeri agreati de celebritatile din toata lumea se numara si Georges Chakra, un designer vizionar, ce a crescut rapid de la un atelier infiintat in 1985 la o adevarata casa de moda internationala.

Din 2002, Chakra este prezent de doua ori pe an la Paris Fashion Week cu liniile sa couture. In februarie 2009 a lansat la New York Fashion Week colectia "Edition by Georges Chakra", o linie de lux pentru femeia moderna si increzatoare in fortele proprii.

Realizand din pasiune, designerul lanseaza pentru fiecare sezon noi idei si tendinte, colectii imprevizibile si pline de surprize. De aceea a atras celebritati precum Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood, Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, Marcia Cross, Helen Mirren, Tyra Banks, si multe altele. Creatiile sale au ajuns pe copertile multor reviste: InStyle, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Elle, Madame Figaro, Gala sau Genlux, cat si in filmul "The Devil Wears Prada", din 2006.

Campari Fashion Bar

Vineri, pe 3 iulie, a avut loc lansarea Campari Fashion Bar, un proiect conceput de Campari si Stylebop. Noul fashion bar se afla in Berlin pe Rosa Luxemburg Straße, un loc ideal pentru shopping. 

Prin vitrina larga se poate vedea foarte bine conceptul ce a stat la baza acestui proiect, o imbinare a stilului de bar-cafenea cu experienta shoppingului. La bar va servi chiar patronul localului, Dr. Jean-Pierre Ebert, alaturi de echipa ce si-a ales-o: Sebastian Dorner, Markus Littmann si Heike Heyse. Imaginea Campari Fashion Bar este actrita Jana Pallaske, ce a purtat patru tinute diferite, fotografiile fiind realizate de Philipp Rathmer. Printre cei prezenti la eveniment s-au numarat si figurile mondene Eva Padberg, Sonja Kirchberger, Tyron Riketts si Jenny Elvers-Elbertzhagen.
